CPAA Monitors Progress Toward AYP Goals

Dr. David Case
Director of Special Services
Blackfoot Public School District, Idaho

Dr. David Case chose Children’s Progress to measure students’ performance against state standards throughout the year. The result: measurable growth in student learning.

Dr. David Case, Director of Special Services for Blackfoot, Idaho, needed an assessment tool that would provide accurate information to evaluate his elementary students’ performance on state-mandated Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals. He chose Children’s Progress Academic Assessment (CPAA) and saw measurable results.

According to Dr. Case, “It's crucial for us to track and monitor student skills in order to ensure that all of our students make Adequate Yearly Progress. Children's Progress gave us the tools we needed to take the pressure off – now we know exactly what the students can do throughout the year. We use it to document students' growth in reading, particularly those students with special needs, whose learning is so critical.”

Dr. Case explains, “Our core teachers rely on the program – they get valuable feedback, and are pleased with the results. The Children’s Progress Assessment has had a measurable impact on our students’ learning.
